Feeling frustrated that things don’t get done?

Feeling frustrated that things don’t get done?

Here’s a famous story about four people named: Everybody, SomebodyAnybody, and Nobody.

There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it. Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it. Somebody got angry about that, because it was Everybody’s job.  Everybody thought Anybody could do it, but Nobody realised that Everybody wouldn’t do it. It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

Does this sound familiar? Do you recognise this scenario? This is when people come to me for support.  You are NOT alone.

This is the result of some, or all, of the following:

  • A lack of clarity surrounding what matters most
  • Poor communication and a lack of proper listening
  • A blame culture and unpredictable outcomes from routine leadership responsibilities and actions
  • No clearly defined acceptable behaviours/values
  • A lack of accountability and poor delegation skills
  • Accidental leaders in place, for whom there has been no training and development.
  • People in roles they are not equipped to cope with.

I feel for you! Don’t despair. This can be resolved.  I have a simple process, which can eliminate this situation.

Note that I’m just talking here about the leaders! Not the staff!  Sorry, but it does all start with you!  Nothing will change unless you do!!

I said “simple”, but it might not be easy!  It might make you, (and possibly a few others very uncomfortable) – but it is worth it!

The culture in your organisation will be significantly different to the one above.  It will be one where:

  • There is a clear set of priorities which have been clearly defined
  • Everyone has the leadership ability to lead their team effectively
  • Accountability is a routine behaviour, which routinely manifests
  • Delegation is expertly executed
  • Clarity is provided by effective communication
  • Listening skills are highly honed and valued
  • Feedback is paramount and delivered so that everyone is happy to improve performance and feels appreciated for excellent work
  • The culture is driven by a shared set of values and purpose and standards

This is totally possible, and it can be achieved by a process of leadership development and executive coaching using my framework and Even Better Leader Toolkit.
