“Keep it Simple Stupid” to Build a High performance Culture
Try these two things to refocus for the next six months – to boost productivity and motivation of the leadership team:
1) Think SIMPLICITY – how do you make sure they have clarity over the “Most Valuable Priorities” (MVPs) ?
😃 When did you discuss what matters most right now?
😁 It is very easy to get side-tracked by things that FEEL important. Are people working hard on something which isn’t doesn’t matter so much? How do you know?
👏 Working hard is great. Working SMART is better.
👏 In my experience, EFFECTIVENESS is much better than EFFICIENCY.
Some companies have some very EFFICIENT leaders, who might be good, but sometimes they are working on the wrong things. It’s such an easy win to check in and agree the MVPs.
💥 Write down what you think each key leader should have on the top 3 MVP list.
Then just casually ask them:
“What are your three most important priorities, right now?”
Then compare lists…….
It has very often proven to be a huge break through for the teams I coach.
I’d love to know how you get on! How close are those lists?
2) Have a mini- review of how EFFECTIVE the communication is in your company.
For example, at the end of your next meeting – close the meeting and ask:
“What is the most important message you will take away with you, having attended this meeting?”
See what you get!
People interpret the messages differently.
For a high performing culture EVERYONE needs to be hearing the message in the way that you intended them to hear it.
🤔 Humans hear things as WE ARE, not how THEY ARE.
Keep CLARITY and SIMPLICITY at the core of all communications.
People should really leave a meeting with one thing to action front and centre in their minds
Does this happen in your meetings? How do you know?
I am very interested to hear how you get on!
Keep it simple and check on your MVPs so that everyone is moving in the same direction. Be an excellent communicator.
Most of my work revolves around this. It’s surprising how much time and money is wasted because the simple and effective things are lost.

ps I didn’t want to do a selfie, so I chose this lovely photo from my recent trip to Cornwall, taken at St. Michael’s Mount. This is an Agave – common name Century Plant – grown for their striking appearance. To me it is simplicity and it is striking. So should our communication be as leaders!
